Why do my braking events not match between apps?

QUESTION:

I have two CMT apps and they display different events for the same trips. Why is that?

ANSWER:

Generally events have different definitions and different data sources. For example, hard brake events on one app are derived mostly from GPS data, whereas on another app they are derived from both accelerometer and GPS data. The data goes through different algorithms, and therefore they will not necessary align.
