There are 2 flavors of speeding disputes, either the driver was actually speeding or there is a separate reason to cause them to be incorrectly flagged.
First Check if CMT has the Incorrect Speed Limit:
-
-
- First, we access the trip in question in our portal. All the information you would need to determine if this is valid speeding or not can be found on the trip page:
- Select an area within the red speeding segment, and either choose Waze or Google Maps. Selecting Waze or Google from this window will bring you to that location in the corresponding mapping software:
- Verify the speed that is currently showing on the road. If you are using Waze, you can select the road segment and you should be able to see what Waze has listed on the road on the left hand side. It is important to note that you should also try to verify the speed limit of the road by seeing if you can find a speed limit sign on the street view.
- In this scenario, we have found the culprit! The speed limit listed in our system was about 25 mph, and as we can see according to Waze: the speed limit is actually 50 mph (or 80 km/h). Now you have to change the speed limit in our system.
- Navigate back to the portal and select a segment of the road just before the red speeding section. On this window you are now going to select "Start here" below the phrase "Speed Limit Override:"
- Now select a section just after the end of the red speeding section, and select "End here"
- You will now be prompted with a window where you can see the different segments of the road you are updating, you will be asked what is the speed you are updating to (make note if you are putting a km/h or mph speed limit in), and what is your reasoning for this override. Once you have filled in that information, click the blue Override button and you have made your change!

-
NOTE: You will not be able to immediately see this change in the portal, however if you followed the above steps properly, the override was successful
Once you have updated the speed limits in our system, now the trip has to be dealt with. This trip will still weigh down on the user's score:
- Go to the top right of the trip page and select the red "Remove Trip" button.
- Note, this is a permanent change so make sure you are removing the correct trip.
- You will be prompted with the following window asking you to confirm your selection and to provide a reason why
- Once you have confirmed all the proper information, click the "Remove" button, and you should be all set!
